Areas of professional focus at CDE: Interdisciplinary research (ethnoecology and ethnobotany); integrated and participatory tools for sustainable natural resource management and sustainable development (LforS, PLI, SDA); programme management and coordination (partnerships with developping countries); capacity building (at community, technical, and university levels). Themes: biocultural diversity, indigenous environmental knowledge, social learning processes, endogenous development, transdisciplinarity.
