Wide-Retraite: A feminist view of the “fair food” idea

The Fair Food Initiative launched by the Green Party of Switzerland aims to structure the importation of food and feed to Switzerland in a way that supports sustainability. Should importing countries be permitted to distinguish, and treat differently, goods that have been produced in a different manner? CDE researcher Elisabeth Bürgi Bonanomi examined this question from a legal perspective with regard to agricultural products. Her study also shows how the measures proposed by the Fair Food Initiative fit into ongoing debates about a sustainable agricultural trade system. On 24 August 2017, the study will be discussed from a feminist perspective at a workshop organized by Women in Development Europe (WIDE) Switzerland. More information

SECO, SDC and CDE have joined hands to commemorate this anniversary and celebrate the 25 years of cooperation between the World Bank and Switzerland, to take stock and set the course for their future international cooperation. ’Bernese Prize for Environmental Research’ – award ceremony
