Academy 2030: playfully explore the 2030 Agenda

The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development requires negotiations to balance different development priorities. Achieving one goal can have positive or negative effects on other goals, and interactions between goals are often complex. Focusing on SDGs 3, 15, and 16 (“Health”, “Land”, and “Conflict”) in Ethiopia and Kenya, the Academy 2030 platform offers entry points to understanding complex systems. Three modules – “Learn”, “Understand”, and “Apply” – enable users to delve into the topic, test their knowledge, develop their own ideas, and access selected data and information for their own analyses.

Bougouni: A strategy game about sustainable development in the Sahel

The game Bougouni brings to life the challenges faced by developing countries. While playing it, students are encouraged to address various ecological, social, and economic issues. The prototype for Bougouni was jointly developed by CDE and partner organisations in Mali. Together with PHBern and éducation21, CDE has reworked the content of the game, making it suitable for use with high school-aged students.
