Land degradation and desertification are critical challenges we face. Coupled with climate change, they jeopardize humanity’s capacity to feed itself. Tackling degradation and desertification demands local and global solutions. The World Day to Combat Desertification has been observed since 1995 in an effort to promote public awareness and foster international cooperation to combat desertification and the effects of drought. This year’s theme is “ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change”.
