Transcending the boundaries of your discipline: A video produced by students of the IGS North-South Summer School 2015 provides insight into transdisciplinary research.

The IGS North-South is a graduate school of the Universities of Bern, Basel, Zurich and Lausanne in Switzerland. It is dedicated to establishing a leading international research network that analyses the impacts of global change, with a view to advancing sustainable development worldwide. It emphasizes an integrative, partnership-based research approach encompassing higher education at the PhD level, innovation, and application. The IGS North-South is currently training over 100 students from eight regions in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe.

CDE coordinates the graduate school. Courses for PhD students from the global North and South are held in various countries, illuminating issues of global change and sustainable development through investigation of concrete, local cases.
