What agriculture feeds the world?

22/09/2011
Food prices are at a record high. The climate is changing, and ever greater areas of farmland are becoming unusable. Water and energy are scarce and expensive. One billion people are starving. Agricultural research and agriculture – in particular 850 million small-scale farmers – face immense challenges. What research is needed to be able to feed the world population? What can Switzerland do to support the right research strategies?
Speakers debated these issues at an event organised by CDE and Swissaid on 21 September 2011.
